However, this review demonstrates that such "top-down" approaches frequently fail to motivate the adoption of best management practices for infectious disease control. Instead, farmers' decisions are deeply embedded in their unique socio-psychological contexts, including their personal beliefs, goals, and routines. Effective intervention strategies must recognize that farmers are not a homogeneous group and that providing universal, rational arguments is rarely sufficient to drive long-term behavioral change.
